A Lex

G'day all,

Was looking at Keefers awesome buck and remembered this one.

I was having a wander in the bush about a month or so ago, and found this dead Fallow stag.

[attachment=1,msg2876506]

He's got a number of points and bits of palm smashed off his antlers, so he'd been in some mighty serious brawls.

By the looks of it and by the state of the decomposition, I'd reckon he was killed in the rut by another stag. Our rut is in April

He's got nice width and length, and fair mass, would have been nice to see him on the hoof. Would have been a cracker in a few years too.

I kept the antlers, but my word, retrieving them was a tad unpleasant, phew he was ripe.

Never found one before in over 40 years of hunting.

Pretty neat find I thought, despite the foul smell.

Best
Lex
Good hunting to you all.
May the wind be your friend, and may your arrows fly true,
Most of all, may the appreciation and the gratitude of what we do keep us humble......

Keefer

Alex ,
I appreciate the reference of the Stag with my Palmated Whitetail and I notice you use the word "Cracker" and never heard someone use it to compare something BUT I like it :biglaugh:
I am glad you were able to save the Antlers of the Stag as well.
" Cracker" I would say is like us saying He's A Dandy,Stud,Hog,Pig,Brute...Me personally when I see something God created that is a bit different I call it  "Awesome" !
