Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. If you're blessed enough to still have your dad with you, make a special memory today!

My dad, who posted here briefly as SlowBow Jimmy, passed away last October while deer hunting. He had really gone stick bow crazy after her retired two years ago. However, we had done lots of hunting in my youth. I can't go in the woods without thinking about our time together, or shoot an arrow without him coming to mind. Unfortunately when I got older the allure of pretty girls drew me away from hunting, and now I realize what all I missed with him.

After he passed, I inherited his stick bow collection, and now I'm using his Ben Pearson Raider and hope to kill a whitetail with it this fall.

I miss Dad every single day, but I'm so glad to say I honestly have nothing but good memories with him. I hope I'm half the man and father he was!

Let's hear about the dads (or father figures) who shaped y'all!

Father's Day has always been a pleasant day for me. Now that I'm a grandfather, it is even more special. Congratulations to all the dads out there, and I hope you have a memorable day. It is also a day for fond memories of fathers who are no longer with us. One of the best things my dad ever taught me had to do with being a man of your word. He said, "If a man's word is no good, the man is no good". I try to remember that daily. Have a good day, guys.

Had a great time with my daughters and my two grandsons (their first camping trip). Not a wilderness trip but in a beautiful valley surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains. Had fun around the campfire and of course s'mores. Wonderful weekend.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
