I made a large order to 3 rivers last week and instead of ordering 2 wing osage footings I ordered 4 wing osage footings. I dont really know how to install 4 wing footings so if anyone could help it would be great. I am going to install them on cedar shafts.

4 wing footings requires either a REAL lot of patience with a small hand saw, or some additional equipment (some of which you can make yourself).

I do believe there is a build-along somewhere showing this process.  I am also fairly certain that there was an earlier article in Traditional Bowhunter mag about this process, I believe by Jason Wesbrock of Illinois.

I suggest you try to find these first.  The process is not so hard to DO, once you aquire the "stuff", but it is more difficult to walk you thru it, especially all the little stuff.

I've edited your title to hopefully get more people that are in the know on this to help you.

Call 3Rivers and see if they will exchange what you ordered. They are good folks there!   Pat

I don't think 3Rivers offers 2-footed blanks (I've looked and looked).  Really, they are just small squares of wood.

The 3rd volume of the Traditional Archers' Bible has a great article on building 4-footed arrows, and with the blanks you are halfway done!  If you can get your hands on the book, maybe hold off on any returns...

Thanks for the help, I own the first two bowyers bibles and now I will purchase the third to learn about this type of footing.

somebody has done an article abut making them with a router and a jig that they show you how to make.  I'm sure someone with a better rememberer than me will think of where it is

Just call up 3rivers and they would be happy to get them exchanged for you.  You really need to make a jig (like the one that was in TBM a few years back) or use the 4 wing footing jig that is in the 3R catalog.

Jstark,
3R added 2 wing footing blocks this year.
