I went out to shoot this afternoon and flung a few at the block. It was fun but just wasn't doing it today. I looked around and found two old dog toy balls, a tennis ball and a softball. I shoot at 20 paces usually so I dropped them at four different spots on my walk back.

The goal was to shoot at one "target" and when I hit it move to the next. Arrow had to stick in and not just brush them. I never hit all four in one round and usually had to send all four arrows I had at one targets but it was a hoot. Hardest was the tennis ball that was only 5 paces out as I had to lean differently to keep my string from off my chest. Brushed it three times and got it with the fourth.

What I found was that even though I wasn't hitting them all the time I was within an inch or four which made me happy. Best shooting was between 10 and 12 paces which seems to be my sweet spot.

Now I am looking forward to the bush drying up a bit more so I can go roving. Never been and it looks like it will be fun.

Oh and one reminder. It is hard to get an arrow out of a soft ball when it had stuck in an inch and a half or so.

Nice, I found out that tennis balls don't last all too long. Found another product on Amazon designed for cricket which withstands field points very well.

Used to shoot at tennis balls til one time I hit the very top of the ball. It's amazing how far an arrow will fly from the bounce.

I'll go out and shoot cactus from time to time because I just can't throw another arrow at the same targets day after day.  You've got to break it up and the different sizes, distances and just different scenarios will make you a MUCH better archer.

I use ace blunts and when you hit a tennis ball square,  not only does the arrow take off, but so does the ball! !!!

I love chasing a tennis ball with blunts. Do a fair bit of this actually. Up and down hill, semi hidden in the bush, short range long range and everything in between. Fantastic practice. A 20 fl oz plastic drink bottle half full of sand or water is great too.

I'm having a hard time finding blunts or judos.  I have some other small game type heads that are coming in the next day or so and am excited about trying those.  I have been thinking of getting some expanding foam and filling up milk jugs to see if I can use them as broad head targets.

Just don't shoot coconuts with judo points - it crushes the spring fingers back into the shaft. Not end-of-life for an aluminum arrow, but I bet a carbon shaft wouldn't survive!

I love shooting at odd or interesting targets! I hate paper (maybe because it doesn't lie).

This is one of my favorites.

Hmm I wonder about suspended yoga blocks being fun targets.
