My hats off to you guys who do fancy risers. Taking time to make proper jigs will make it easier in the future for me, but I think gluing up without everything moving 20 different directions will always be a bit of a challenge:

That said, the results are pretty cool. Look forward to making the rest of the bow now.

Looks good Dave.

Roy I'd like to say thanks for all your help thus far. Got the facets done and that helped a bit. Still no way I'd ever get a string on it at this point but the floor tiller is looking a whole lot better. I am learning that next time make my core much thinner but also taper the core. Had to leave the shop for a bit but may be able to get back at it in a while or tomorrow.

Perfect amount of pink !

Cody, I told you to taper the core.

You never listen...

Make those facets wider and deeper.

Don't even try to string a bow that's way too heavy.

The string will never hold it first of all and you don't want to string it till it's been tillered on the tillering tree with a long string.

Dave, that riser looks sweet. A little pink goes a long ways. Lol

I was using it more as an indication of amount of bend, I wasn't going to attempt any type of string yet. Heading to Easter dinner but hope to be in the shop later. How deep should I take the facets? At this point I've got all edges broke evenly respectively with a little more material removed on the belly than the back.

Facet it to the center of the core lam edges from back and from belly, not quite in as far on the back of the boo surface as much as on the belly side. Like this <> looking in from the end of the limb tip, then round the pointed edges off a little to look like this ( ). Sand all crisp edges before bending.

If it's still too heavy, then deepen the belly facets by taking them lower to the center like the red lines show, then round over the sharp peak on the center of the belly.

All the while keeping the belly "surface" at an even nice gradual taper from fade to limb tips.

You want no humps or dips in the belly surface.

Get down on your knees and look straight across the belly surface for a nice even taper.
