Spare bow on out of State trips ?

When traveling out of State, do you guys typically bring another bow along ? I've got two set-up ready to go for Idaho, however, in the interest of saving space I'm debating leaving one behind .

Do you guys typically bring a spare ?

I always do. I have never had to use it because of a bow failing but you never know when the first time will happen.

I wouldn't think of doing an out-of-state hunt without a back-up bow. It's not as if one can go to a local sport shop and buy another of what we're shooting. Would totally ruin the hunt.

I've always taken a spare. That's one of the advantage of takedowns.

I always take a spare bow if I'm very far away from home. A 3pc takedown bow in a soft case takes up very little room, and much appreciated when the unthinkable happens to your go-to bow!!!!

I always take a backup.

Fractured a limb on the 2nd day of an 8 day hunt.

The backup was ready for action and came thru beautifully.

My hunt would have ended on the 2nd day as I was 1000's of miles from home.

My main bow and the spare shoot the same arrows. No sense doubling up on arrows too.

Spare if more than a few hours from home. Learned the hard way, twice......... Recommendation, when you get back to your truck after a long morning and you are just dragging, don't prop your bow on the truck, thinking "I'll move it later".

I always take a back up.

If I'm hunting with a longbow, I take a spare longbow.

If I'm hunting with a recurve, I take a spare.

If I'm using my ILF, I take spare limbs.

Now, I also convinced my wife that it's prudent to have back ups for my back ups.

Remember, it important to never mix and match. Just buy more more bows until you're ready .

Always....I have never needed it but my buddy had to resort to mine on a pronghorn hunt in Wyoming. His bow delaminated and fortunately we both shoot left handed and I had my back up in the truck. Otherwise his hunt would have been over. It takes so little space to avoid that disappointment.

I have an extra set of limbs for my bow that I always take. They are the same poundage. Even so, when I went to Africa I took an extra bow. Borrowed it from a buddy but they both shoot pretty close to the same. His was only 63 lbs and mine was 70 lbs. Still it was good insurance. I even packed them in different luggage in case one got lost.

I never bothered up until recently when I de-laminated a bottom limb while practicing at home. I will always take a spare from now on.

Always!! Not worth the chance. I can fit 2 TD's in my hard case.
