Well it's unwrapped. Appears that I can dial back my glue next time by about 50%. Got a lot of cleanup to do but it's currently one piece. Centers on all three pieces stayed lined up and straight. I'm happy with how it glued up.

What do you guys use for glue application? I used wood shim stock but it lacked the backbone to smear thin enough obviously.

Poll time- Do you prefer wood or antler for an arrow shelf? Flat or semi locator grip? Wood or leather grip?

Sure are some nice bow's being made and shipped
I'm slowly making progress on mine. Was planning on making progress today and try to get a couple of pic's up, but doctor gave me a shot in my shoulder yesterday and my shoulder hasn't recovered from it yet. Didn't tell me it might make it worse for up to 72 hrs untill after he gave it to me. Anyway I have it starting too bend well at floor tiller and am ready to heat in some reflex. Hopefully I can get back at it Thursday.

Ah but glue is cheap compared to the cost of not enough glue!

I use the same spreading method as yourself but they are about 1/8" thick.

For glue/epoxy I use old gift cards to spread it on. Just enough flex and free

Sorry about that Roy.  That's when pain really hurts when it prevents you from doing what you want to do.

An update on my bow: I'm going to start another one.  There was a very small spot that I noticed after I applied the finish.  It's too small to be captured with a picture.  I didn't know if it was a small splinter or what but figured I would shoot it in and monitor it.  I shot the bow a couple hundred times over the past 2 weeks and the spot hasn't changed at all but I just realized that I will never trust it 100%, so I'm starting a new one.  No sympathies are needed.  I'll keep the bow and shoot it myself, I just want to be the one to take that small chance that it turns into something, not my victim.

Sounds like somebody fell in love with their bow and cant part with it :dunno:

J/K Ben, I couldn't send out something I was completely confident in either

Spreading epoxy, I have started to lay it on with a small shorthaired roller or piece of glass. Then I use the fine teeth of a hair comb to level it out, gives an even spread. Comb are cheap so I throw the used piece away.

Fishinglink

Got it roughed to bamboo and ready for the handle to get glued on. Glue lines look good. Once the handle is on the weight loss begins. May have a string on by this time next week.

Been there Ben , that stinks I know. I still look at bow number one and wonder if I can fix it but I'm not shipping it out with a known defect.
Stay sharp, Kenny.
