Been awhile since I was here.

Just wondering if there is anyone that still shoots Longbows regularly in the 66"-70" and north of #60 realm? Hills or older Robertsons' etc ?

Certainly, I can't be the only one looking at blowing up a shoulder with something in this spec range..   :biglaugh:

Ah, good stuff.

I'm just gearing up a Robertson Mystical 68" #65@28"

The plan is to setup with some BE Deep Impacts and the Valkyrie sytem up front (which is inbound). I've ordered the 200 & 250 field tips and figuring I should be around the 600gr mark all in. I really wanted to see what all the fuss with Valkyrie System, but I'm sure I could've went another cheaper or other style of point/weight system.

It's a spring/summer project and totally opposite of my favoured Recurves I shoot. The hope is that I'm proficient and confident enough by Fall to use it exclusively.

If there's any interest in an on-going campfire tale of this journey, by all means chime in and I'll start one.

I had the same thoughts as you and bought a 62# 69" HH Wesley Special. Took about a week to get used to the weight. I shoot it for an hour every other day and glad I got it , no problems at all moving back up in weight again. Just work into it.

I used to shoot a 68" 66# longbow.  Really liked it but switched to shorter selfbows and sinew backed shorties.  I'm 59 and still shooting plus 60 . . . we'll see how much longer that lasts!

Have at least 10 Hill style bows over 60#'s . Most are 68". In my 60's so don't think I'll buy any more in that range. Will have to get some lighter ones for my 70 and 80's. LOL
