Last night I finally had everything ready to spray finish on the bow. Got 2 coats on it. Today after sanding it with 1000 grit I sprayed 2 more coats
I like it  :bigsmyl:

Looks sharp!

Looks like it turned out great Sam

Starting today getting stuff ready to go to KY Tradfest. A great event. If you are in the area this weekend Fri. Sat. Sun stop in. Harradsburg Ky. Check the thread over on Powwow.

Got ready for glue up...my third (hopefully successful) bow. Had a riser I cut out of a previous failed attempt and added some to it. The stack goes: clear glass, walnut, bamboo, my understanding of a power lam, riser, stable kor, bamboo, maple, clear glass. I modified my form with a center pin to keep alignment and going topless with her this time...I like the idea so I guess we'll see how it goes!

Looks good
I got to say, your a thrill seeker doing that in the kids playroom :scared:

Crooked Stic

You for sure need the power lam or go thinner on those fades. Like that riser though.

HAHAHA!...Ya they've been harassing me to get the garage cleaned up so they can play :big laugh:

Thanks for the advice Stic...I think I will thin out the fades a little. One of my other attempts failed (delaminated) on the riser side of the fade...probably due to too much pivot at the stiff fade when worked.

Looking good! That is quite curvy form you have here. What's your target in term of bow length?

JWheel

My first bow out of that form was 54" 60#@28...shoots about 178fps (10+gpp carbon arrow)...the curve makes it quite a hassle to keep everything straight while pressing so Imma try the topless/center pin and see how it goes. This time round I'm shootin for 58-60" to get a little more forward load on the limbs with PL=faster...IDK...hahaha (that's my theory).

Well, I finally did it. I have some nice wood on the shelves that I bought many years ago and have never used. I don't know, just kind of felt good that I knew they were there, nuts perhaps.
To night I finally took them to the jointer and nature's beauty came shining out. The two 2x4 in the middle is Cocobolo and one of them is outstanding I think. The one laying crosswise I know is Bocote, the two on the sides I bought many years ago as a Rosewood, but they look more like Bocote, don't you think?
I guess I have to use them now.

Nice lumber Bue!  Good investment too. I recently discovered how much exotic wood appreciates in value.
That Cocobolo sells for $46.BF here locally :o

Crooked Stic

Oh my what nice wood Bue.
I got a hurry up finish on this to go to Tradfest. 62 54@28.

My Chinese bandsaw tension rod finally seized today. Soft steel! So since I had to dismantle the thing, I thought it would be a good time to replace the rubber tires with some urethane ones I bought a while ago. That was a good move, it must have reduced the vibration by 70%. Also had to arrange a temp tension rod/nut set-up. Lucky for me I had some  3/8" stainless all thread and a stainless t-nut. Was able to crank the tension way past anything I could get with the stock set-up. Put a 3/4" blade on and put it to the test.
Very happy, never been able to slice so thin before. I promptly ordered some 10mm acme rod w/nuts and a heavy spring.

Nice looking bow Stic...I think I'm gonna have to follow your lead and put urethane on mine saw too Flem!...I like the idea of les vibration :gold tooth:

I got the topless form laced up today. I used 1/2" oak dowel and 550 paracord...seemed to work great with 50-60psi...didnt hear any cracking during hose inflation so there she sits drying....

I wish, it would probably have more power!
