So here's a little update for all those considering signing up on Roger's side or the winning side.

As you can see, Roger has been diligently shooting in his winter archery league. I on the other hand have been shut down for over a month:

But, I've learned the benefits of cross training from my collegiate athlete daughters, so:

Roof raking and cross country skiing are allowing me to keep my back, shoulder, arms and core tuned up. More importantly, you've got to ask yourself are you going to want to back Roger, who's going to peak early in his training or someone like me, who's going to crescendo at the competition?

Dang Ray...it's pretty early for the "weather excuse"

 :archer2:    vs     :archer2:

Two Michiganders
Men amongst boys
Got up their dander
Took up their toys

The match was set
Date with location chosen
A bold friendly bet
Who's the best bowman

One took to bragging
The other took the bait
Who's butt would be dragging
Who's dancing a proud gait

Each knew he was best
Tried to convince the Gang
Strutted proudly for the rest
Two loud cymbals clang - clang

Seems these men were all talk
Didn't put on much of a show
Both shooters did balk
Wild arrows flew from each bow

As the embarrassment concluded
Arrows back in the quiver
Meekness from pride extruded
Tears running deep like a river

They sat with some Blantons
And toasted each other
We may not be shooters
But we're still Trad Gang Brothers

Here's to Men Like Us - Damn Few!    We'll All Drink To That!

Oh Grasshopper Norris, the fallacy in your argument is that you have a chance to beat me, which would be the only reason I would need an excuse.  I was only pointing out the geographic difference in our homesteads.  😉

Nope RL, right thread.  I just love me some good smack talking.  Couldn't help but join the fun.   :knothead:

If'n y'all are kind enough to invite me and tell me where y'all are competing, I'll try hard to make the event.

Hey Ray, I've been pitching my idea for a moose hunt on Isle Royale to one of my buddies at Michigan Tech who's involved with the predator pretty study out in the island. He says it sounds like a good idea, so I'll let you know if it happens!

Ray Lyon

Trenton, my daughter is a freshman at Tech. I've never been out to th island but it seems like they are struggling to keep wolves alive and they are worried about moose overpopulation. Sounds like a recipe for bow hunting to me; the greatest archer in Shrewhaven history.

Remember Ray, it really is possible for you to beat me. Don't give up this soon. Do your best not to think of me as you anchor and release..... :archer2: :bigsmyl:

Psychological warfare only works if you understand your opponent. I'm a no anchor snap shooter so there's no time for thinking.

RN,

I have yet to decide who I'm riding with in this 'gentleman's' grudge match.  Ultimately, my decision will be made based upon who proves to be the superior smack talker.  So far it's real close as both of you are pretty impressive word wranglers.  Rays photo of Roger's 'solid' practice session was great!  However, Roger flinging so many different kinds of arrows and never missing the target at 75 yards is pretty impressive too!

During my prison career we called this back-and-forth smack talking 'Playing the Dozens'.  Sometimes clean, oftentimes mean!  I do miss me some good 'Dozens' so this post is real refreshing for me.   (Roy from Pa and I had some fun-spirited PMs recently about his sissy TOYota and my macho JEEP)

Huh?, wondering if the smack talking will continue while you two mud-slingers square off as arrow-flingers?  I think it quite apropos for the dirty deluge to continue throughout the grudge match to see which nimrod performs best under pressure.  Should be a real spirited match by the time August rolls around . . .
