This is an osage selfbow I made and gave to Clint(osage outlaw). I called her "Tacky" and dressed her appropriately...

Nice looking bows Keith.  Tiller looks good too.
Life is too short to use marginal bow wood

K. Wolfe I would be a little leary about cutting in a deep and long sight window on a wood bow.  But thats just me as long as the bow does not take a direct smack on the side it should hold.   Nice bow.

I've heard that concern before but the profile is why I get away with it. I'll show a side view. Where it is cut in the farthest is where the bow is at full depth of 3 layers of 3/4" (just shy) wood. I've never had a failure in the handle and I'm at about ten years with this style. Did have a limb failure this year and that was the first in years. I kind of copied my recurve at the time and shortened the risers then used that on all my wood bows. My first gen. was pretty blocky. It has treated me well for a long time.

Nice woodworking but is it necessary for a simple wood bow?   :dunno:

Here are a few of mine from when I first started. Far from perfect but they were fun. Have given most away. I got one glued up and have a Osage stave on the way.
