For those who own edge sanders what grits do you use the most?
I just bought a 6x80" and need to order some belts
The human body is the only machine the harder you work it, the stronger it gets.

I use 60 grit.

Those edge sanders hog wood off in no time.

Check out this place for belts.

Great service and have bulk prices.

I also buy from Supergrit. For fiberglass and wood bows I mostly use 50,80 and 120 zirconium 6"x 80" belts. I use a 36 grit belt every now and then.. but the 50 and 120 see the most work profiling limb edges

60 grit Zirc. belt for me. Get them a Supergrit also.

Ok thanks men, I was thinking 36 for rough limb profiling instead of using a saw, and 50-60 for more fine work.

36 grit will cut a steel I beam in half.

"grits and grunts" here in Florida. Grunt is a saltwater fish we catch in the Gulf of Mexico, I like my grits with cheese and butter. I have used 36 grit belts to grind limb edges but usually use a 50 to get 1/16" from line then use a 120 to grind to the line. 120 will leave a cleaner edge over the 50, I still use 180 or 220 grit on my mouse sander to further smooth the limb edges. During limb grinding I keep a sanding block with 80 or 100 grit to keep masking tape on back trimmed even with the sanded limb, the tape can roll up a little and be wider than the glass..

Robert, I never had a grit to eat.

How about sending me one?:)

Robertfishes

Mr Roy, Will mail you some tomorrow. They might be cold when they arrive..

cheese grits, hush puppies and fried fish are for lunch and dinner....white grits, toast, bacon and eggs are for breakfast.. 36, 50,60, 80 and 120 grits are for grinding on bows :goldtooth:
