I'm sure it varies with bone impacts and other variables but how long can a stone point remain suitable for killing provided it is well cared for? I don't like to slip my steel heads in a quiver too many times without touching them up and got me wondering about a stone's lifespan.

Stone point edges can be reworked with pressure flaking when needed. Even if a stone point breaks that edge is sharper than the others so even broken it can be deadly.

Apparently pressure flaking when done right won't reduce the dimensions enough to matter. Would you say 1/8" reduction? Also would you cut it off the shaft to perform this.

I personally think they should be considered one and done heads for hunting.

The only time they would be one and done is if they broke. Yes you can touch them up while on the shaft to sharpen them. I have done it. NOW I wouldn't use the head over  for it is part of the trophy. I killed one deer with a longbow and a stone point and that arrow is in my display.

Depending on the edge and damage you could do a touch up with 1/16" or less reduction in width.
I'd pressure flake it on the shaft.

My point isn't that you couldn't use them again but yeah it's part of the trophy. There is also a good chance that your arrow was damaged or needs to be refltched. If you need to start removing the head and regarding it on another shaft it seems not worth it. The practice arrow I set up this year was shotvibtpba target dozens of times and o shot itvtboigh a hanging dead deer 5 times. I drove into the spine on one shot and just broke the very very tip of the point off. They can be very strong.

Are you guys making or buying your points?

I usually trade for them. I don't knap but understand how it works just enough so I can make slight adjustments like resharpening or reducing the base some to mount the point.
