It is box elder . It is still 12 percent moisture so not sure what these will do now as they dry more...

Don't think it will be pink enough for Roy, he might be chapped ...  :biglaugh:
Stay sharp, Kenny.

I love Box Elder. I first saw it in Iowa at a hunt lodge. The guy said that up there it's a nuisance wood and used for fence rows like Osage, so he had a bunch of lumber milled and built his lodge with it. Beautiful place.

Putting and gluing stuff together, have not quite decided yet, have so much wood.

Buemaker

Have on option here, handle needs Zebrano veneer and clear glass on back before drilling and inserting brass bushings in limb holes.

skeaterbait

Bue, you have got the coolest toys there. Is that a spindle sander hiding in that hole?

Buemaker

It is a 30 mm diameter spindle for a router, but I have made solid aluminum drums for sanding also.

Buemaker

Mouse? I could try with cheese and see if something come out of the hole.

skeaterbait

Wow, I guess you have to have a light hand with that or you would be burning up wood and sleeves all the time.

Buemaker

I have contact glued 40 grit cloth backed paper and that works fine, finer grits are not suitable since the slowest setting on that drum is 3000 rpm, half would have been enough.

Woodpuppy

I tried a sanding drum in a router table once. Once. I'm just glad the pieces didn't hit me.

Lonnie, you're a half bubble off:)

skeaterbait

Which explains the contentment. You know what they say, "Don't take life so serious, you ain't gonna survive it anyway"

You talking about Lonnie or the level? 🙂
Dave.
" Vegetarian" another word for bad hunter.

skeaterbait

I do have a question however. Since it's clamped to my level it's no going in the hot box. So when cut in to lams and put in a form, do I need to worry about the splice coming apart?
