Well it's 11degrees here this morning and the season is over. I'm working on making a couple dozen wood arrows up, dying some turkey feathers and trying to organize my hunting stuff.

Stripping and sanding the red magnesium riser of a Bear 76er bow I bought.  I'll paint the riser next spring in the warmer weather after I decide what color I want.  Got the white fiberglass limbs looking good and I'll be adding a new string, silencers and Bear hair rest with side plate before shooting it for the first time.  I'll also be cleaning all my hunting gear, clothes and boots during the winter as well.   :coffee:

Well there is that little thing I do to earn the money to do this.  TBOT season is getting warmed up and winter is a good time to hunt pigs so . . . No down time.
Oh, I did take the Christmas lights off the house today.
Need to put together arrows.  Have a bow I need to order and build some for as well.

Got some arrows right here on the computer desk and I'm fletching and reading.  I can shoot 12 yards in the basement where the wood burner keeps things toasty...

Spent the morning at the range. Decided after my mid day nap to rig up my B Mag riser to shoot off the shelf. That lead to new nock point which lead to new cat whiskers as well. Put the next 4 months 3D shoots in my IPad calendar. Tomorrow after I have my physical I am going to get some arrows ready for the rig to tune up on Wednesday.
Pretty much gave up on Javelin for this year.

My mind has shifted from deer to turkey. Running calls is a nonstop thing now when I'm stuck inside. The house sounds better that way anyhow.

With apologies to the movie Apocalypse Now, "I love the smell of turkey feathers burning in the morning" not!

That seems like a do it outside thing.

Yep, making arrows and making a couple strings...easy to make a string jig.

Made some arrows for 3/D yesterday, going to make a string for a new set of ILF limbs today, sharpen a knife or two. Whip up some wool string puffs to have on hand. Always something to do.......maybe a bit of leather work now and then. Chop some feathers........it never ends, lol !!!!!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

It don't get cold here but if I was confined indoors I would opt for a selfbow build

tippit

Not supposed to be cold here in SC...but it is!  Forge sure take the chill off quickly as I pound hot steel.

Well Tippit if it makes you feel any warmer the high today is zero here in cheesehead country :campfire:

Today went through my hunting gear and organized my work area.

I too can get about 10 to 12 yards in the basement, shot a few arrows this morning.

Played musical vehicles in the driveway for a few minutes getting ready to take off for Kalamazoo early tomorrow morning.

My rainy / cold day project. A friend asked me to make a carved keepsake box for him. He hunts with beagles, so that's what he's getting.

I'm wanting to make a fur mountain man hat out of an assortment of hides I've tanned over the years. Anyone have a good template or resource for making such a thing?

I'm fiddling with leather work.  Making a couple shoulder holsters and made sheaths for these Green River knives that I recently put scales on.
