Hi guys, I have not done much tree stand shooting but this new year I will be trying it out, so I thought I would have a crack at knocking some up, progress so far, Regards wayne

Make it with two upright posts to keep cables from digging into legs when standing against tree.

foot rest are good if you have legs that need changes in positions,  if not make sure you sit in a chair that is comfy and use that measure, excluding cushion

Any way to get some grip on the flat form?  Climax stands were a great idea but their platforms were too slippery for me.

Great start.  I'll take 10!!!

Thanks for the feedback, I will keep you all posted to how they progress, on the grip side of things they will be powder coated in one od green then on the mesh i will apply a coat of grit to another colour and painted on to the mesh it works really well, we use it at work for floor areas for anti slip, regards wayne.

Looks good !  What do you estimate finished seat height and weight to be ?? A taller seat really works well and keeps movement to a min. I made a few in the past but mine were always pretty heavy but rock solid, I kinda copied the old screaming eagle stands.  One thing to think about and I'm sure you have this already thought out, is the upper attatchment to the tree. With a double upright you have some separation on its upper points of contact to help stability as well as spreading the cables some as mentioned above. Nice metal work thanks for posting !

Dave I was just going to try different height till i get it perfect, I could do an adjustable height but didn't want to add to weight, not sure on the full weight yet but its ok I used 19mm ERW tube so its as light as it can be, again the single leg was to help keep weight to a minimum, I will do a piece to fit the tree for the top portion and lugs for the wires, I have used 3mm stainless shrouded and it will have nylon washers so everything is tight but quite. I have not seen a stand in the flesh so I have just gone with what I think, the platform is easy big enough to move around on and I had to keep the bends the same for single mandrel bending, I can't wait to finish it and get them tried, regards Wayne

I made my stands for many years, but they never looked that nice. Anxious to see the end result.
