By the vocabulary:  Reflex - 1. Any part of an unstrung bow's limb that curves away from the string side. 2. Distance a bow's tips are set in front of the handle when unstrung due to reflexing. For instance, a bow may be said to show two inches of reflex, when unstrung.

So is reflex officially measured from where deflex ends and reflex towards the handle begins or the distance it advances after crossing the plain of the front of the riser? I guess I'm just a little confused by the definition

Is there a good safe number for reflex before a hybrid limb begins to get unstable? (assuming 1/2" knocks and between 1-1/4 and 1-3/8 at the end of the riser)

I was thinking of 2.5" as a safe start but I know collectively there is a LOT of knowledge here. Just looking a: to understand better and b: for a decent starting point

I have always understood it to be the distance the knocks are in front of the handle the bow I'm finishing up now the limbs are just about 1 5/16 wide out of the fades with 3" of reflex & it doesn't have a hint of instability , maybe some depends on the design but 2.5 " sounds very doable !

Look at the reflex on horse bows and they are stable.
