Sat all day today in Bald Eagle State Forest today. Had an encounter with a small spike buck at 5 yds and again in the afternoon at 15yds. I sat in a ladder stand that I put up the middle of October. I only used one section of the stand to get me up over the laurel. Around 4pm I looked to my left and about 75 yard I noticed a deer making a scrape. So I grunted at it and it walked towards the creek. I lost sight of the deer for a moment. Then he was walking straight at me. If he would have continued on course he would have passed by me at 5yds. He angled back towards the creek and at about 30yds he locked up and knew something wasn't right. He paused then turned around and headed back the way he came. Great encounter! Even though I didn't score this early season in PA. I saw 3 spike buck, 2 8points and a bear. I gained a lot of knowledge and know where I need to make stand adjustments! Hope everyone had a great season!

It always feels good when you are able to put yourself in position to see game.

Bein' there is the payoff, eh? else you wouldn't have the memory or the tale to tell. A real nice season in the Tioga State Forest and no meat in the freezer at my house either. Good luck with the rest of the seasons to all.

Awesome hunt. I had plenty ups and downs this season. No tags filled. I have pics showing me what's out there. I'll be at it again with the long bow during the fire arm season. Wish bow season went right up to firearm with out the two weeks off.

Homey, I consider that 'one helluva' day(season).  Good preparation on your part.  My season has been very slow, but that's the way it goes.  Again, good for you.
