I picked up a good used buck decoy to use this year and I think it's about time. The bucks are getting rutty and looking for a fight so I'm going to take the decoy out in the morning. Question is how should I set it up , I'm guessing about 15-20yds up wind and facing away. Seen a few videos but that's about all...

Sam, just be very careful carrying it into the woods in the dark:)

Will do , it's in a giant bright orange bag....

I was thinking more on another big buck attacking you carrying it or setting it up:)

I would set a buck deke facing quartering to you. A buck will approach his head offering the shot. A doe deke faces away, the buck will approach her from behind.

Sam Ive only used mine a little but from my experiences rattling...find good place to shoot...put deer behind you in thick bush...they come in looking for animal...they see it and will tentatively walk around to catch wind.....look to see how big deer is before committing to a fight and / or looking for a doe to steel...what all the attention is about..

Depending on situation they generally walk up facing buck  from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock (big bucks) or from behind for some bucks (to catch wind of back glands)

This is for rattling...not sure about just setting up for visual que.

Some people only put one antler on to make it less intimidating

Hopefully I can remember this, pretty much how I had mine but put antler on wrong side, used it for first time the other day.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

This morning had 7 bucks come within 30yds of the decoy the biggest one made a scrape 20yds from it. A few small bucks and doe walked right up to it and it never bothered them a bit , others thought it was evil. Pretty cool , figure it's a right place right time deal...
