Facepaint for me.  I detest facemasks and nets.  Carbomask comes off very easily with just water.  Fliptops with mirror from Walmart.......I have to get my face hydroblasted!  I did try some burnt cork this week.  Did not cover well for me and smelled terrible when it burnt.  I will stick with my carbomask face paint.

The key with facepaint is applying it in an asymmetrical random pattern.  I see far too many guys apply it in a mask-like pattern which does nothing to break up your face. 

Years ago my wife went along hunting with me.

So we are in the bathroom applying the face paint.

A little goes a long way, right?

I glanced at her in the mirror and all I could see was her teeth and the whites of her eyes, her whole face was black.

I totally lost it and busted out laughing.

I laughed the whole 300 yards to the tree stands.

I couldn't even look at her in her stand without busting out laughing.

Didn't see ah damn deer that night.

she was going to stay at the truck while my son and i chased a bull in a hell hole...she didnt want to be

abducted...no way was anyone going to mess with her looking like that...we laughed so hard there wasnt

an elk left in the whole canyon.

Tink's at one time made a camo dust  it worked pretty good.  easy to get off when you washed your face. 

I wear a light weight mask, like the one in Stumpkillers  pic. Just enough to knock down the glare.

But she was there with you, more than can be said for many.

I use a lightweight hood and also cotton camo gloves, and it works very well. I used to use paints, but disliked the messy cleanup. Yesterday, I had a doe come in to about 12 yards. She did not spook, even after checking me out very closely.

I've used several methods to break-up my shiny-face the when hunting Whitetails in Northern Michigan since the late 60's.    In the  early years we grabbed a burnt chunk from the fire the night before (miss those nighttime bs sessions) and gave our cheeks a quick darkening.  burnt cork was not available in those days as the beverage cans had no corks! 

Facepaint.Only downside is the scrubbing off.

Just learned a trick, with some greasy hand lotion the paint comes off easiest with a couple of tissues.

I got a camo neoprene face mask, the kind bikers wear, for this season. I'm liking it. It's thin enough for me to feel my anchor, a Velcro closure holds it in place so it doesn't slide around and block my vision the way my fleece ones did, and it keeps my face nice and warm. Best $8 I've spent on hunting gear.

Burnt cork on the ground.  Usually nothing in a tree.  Just depends on the situation.

Very seldom a y more.  I have an assortment of the thin tubes you wear to protect you from sun and wind burn, in various camo patterns, I use most of the time.
