I've never met Paul, but we do have a mutual friend who has hunted on his place as a guest. From what I've been told this might not be the best deer on his property. Congrats to Paul for taking a fine deer with traditional gear.. Your patience and hard work has been rewarded.

Thanks Terry.  That looks a lot better.

Paul,

Where do I even begin? I suppose saying "I'm sorry" is a start.

I'm sorry.

Looking back, I can't believe that I inputted such a statement without considering its negative implications. It was both ignorant and disrespectful and I was far from acting as a genuine trad brother. Even if I explain my actions, it
still doesn't justify that I contributed to significantly detracting from your own great success. The fact that my actions offended you is most concerning.

I hope you can forgive me for what I did and put this matter behind us. I treasure the Trad Gang family, its friendships, camaraderie and the respect we strive for. I have fallen yet, will get up and begin again.  And hopefully, what transpired can become one of those incidents that makes me a better individual.

I'm sorry.

Great buck, my man!  It's tough to get good pics by yourself. I applaud you for taking care of the meat as a priority.  It's becoming a rarity these days thanks to social media and insta famous hunters all over the web. Good job all the way around!

Texas Trad,
What a beast! How did that 430 grain arrow perform? Obviously well enough  :biglaugh: I know you said you double lunged him, so did you get a pass through? Congrats on one heck of a deer!

I had complete penetration but not a pass through. The buck carried the arrow with him most of the way and I found it very close to where he dropped.

Regarding the arrow weight, I am shooting about 7.5 grains per pound which is certainly below the commonly quoted 10 grains per pound. My bow is 54 lbs at 28" but I draw 29.5" so the weight at my draw is 58 lbs or so.  Rick makes his bows so that they shoot light arrows well and this bow is VERY quiet shooting these 430 grain arrows.  These arrows are very fast out of this bow.

On the broadhead, I was surprised to find that I had a tiny bit of tip curl which is pretty shocking given how bombproof they look.  I am not knocking the broadheads because I am still using them. On a positive front, the broadhead still shaved easily following the shot.
