This is a bow I built a few years ago.  If either the bow breaks or the string would the limb rap my knuckles hard.      ...... could install a lock pin on the handle.

Yep good idea.  I thought you would say sumpthing funny like thats a big Nut Cracker ya got...........

I had thought about strong Neodymium magnets for a hinge takedown, just to keep it from flopping about when unstrung.  For keeping it together for safety though,  that would might a pretty strong magnet, so you would have to worry about the strength of whatever holds the magnets in place.

The Ottomans and others who built nearly identical hinged bows didn't bother with any sort of lock or keeper. 

IF (and that's a huge if) the string should break or a limb snap, the hinged bits should NOT hurt you, even if you have sensitive hands(!).  IF/WHEN something gives, you'll be holding the bow in the center which should keep the pieces together for the few milliseconds it takes your brain to realize that something broke and tell your hand to "drop the weapon". 

If you're overly worried, make a thin leather 'sleeve' handle which can be slid on/off the center, or wear a manly-man bowhand glove/armguard combo like I do when shooting off the hand.

I have always wanted to build one of those.  Just seems to make more sense to me than a take down.  Nice work!

Just put ya a rubber door stop on the back when ya shoot so the two halves can't come together.
