I think I might need an intervention. But I know I won't get it from you enablers. I feel the need for another bow. Innocently enough I came across a picture of a River Runner. I've never shot a recurve and I have a longish draw. Close to 31". Any advice ? Is it tough to go back and forth between a Hill style and a recurve? All comments gladly appreciated. Thanks Guys

i'm not gonna be any help, but i'll tell you this. i am a HUGE fan of 50s style recurves. i have shot several, with my RER Retro being my go-to.

if (when) i ever buy another bow, it will be a Holm-made River Runner. i think they look awesome, and i know they will shoot that way.

Call Chad and talk to him, I'm sure he can accommodate.  There should be no problem going back and forth.  Many think they see a difference but there really isn't,  Yes grip shapes are different but if you have a good technique, I think you will find switching back and forth of little concern.

I have a few of Chad's bows,but they are all longbows. I've wanted to try a River Runner as well. I just always shoot longbows better. There was or still is a buetiful one on the classifieds.

Chad makes a very fine bow, excellent fit and finish through his craftsmanship.  The River Runner is a great example of a 50's style recurve and it won't let you down.  With your drawlength, you should probably look for a 62" but Chad would be able to tell you the exact length of bow you would need.

As far as switching back and forth with a Hill bow, the recurve will be a little louder and it will also be faster, might need a heavier arrow to keep it the same speed as the Hill, or get it a few pounds lighter in draw weight.  Good luck in trying not to buy one.

I am the last guy to ask this question, I have 8 of Chad's bows, 4 of them are River Runners. 2 have dual shelves. With your long draw I would say 62" or his Kodiak replica comes in 64" , I have one and love it. As far as going back and forth to a hill style bow.......I have 11 Hill type bows and go back and forth all the time. There is a bonus to all this.......you get to deal with Chad, excellent bowyer, and a great guy . And yes I have way to many bows.....

I draw right to about 30.5 and have a 62" river runner.... fantastic, bow. Shoots as good as some other bows I have that are 3-4x the price.

Not to take away from Chad's incredible bows, but as another option, that flatters a long draw, consider one of Montana's rising stars in bowyering, Hurst Bows.  He builds a model called the Prana, in 61" length, static tip design which works for up to a 31" draw.  I have one and it has been an exciting bow to sample.  It is as if Jim Neaves at Centaur were offering a recurve.  Great build quality, it is quiet and super fast.  Hurst's wait time is also very short.    He has a website and is a super young fellow to talk to.

I should also add that I never have any problem switching bows once I get a couple practice shots in.
