South finally built me a set of 56" longbow limbs for my Coyote!

According to South, shorter longbow limbs or shorter bows in general are not highly requested at Stalker. I can totally understand why that is the case, but for my hunting situations, shooting style and height, I just prefer short bows. I've been bothering South for awhile now and he finally had some time to experiment with 56" limbs for the Coyote riser. I just got them in and wanted to share some info in case there are others out who prefer shorter longbow limbs too.

The first thing that I did was I scaled the bow from 25" - 29". Looks like it starts to stack at 29"

I'm short myself so the longer bows just feel weird to me.

The longer bows get a bit cumbersome in the terrain that I hunt. The vegetation is really thick and the terrain is uneven and steep. It makes carrying and shooting a bit challenging for myself.

I drew it out to 29", but I don't think South will recommend it past 28".

She's awfully pretty! My new Diamondback Venom is 62" ntn making it a bit easier in our tall grass. Nothing like to steep volcanos your hunting! I'm hoping to see how much better it is from my canoe in a couple days.

How's it shoot? I heard South talking about this on the Push Podcast. I'm a short bow fan myself and a coyote is high on my list of future bows to check out.

It shoots very similar to his static limbs. I feel that it's smooth drawing and shooting for shorter draw lengths.

This is awesome. I have coyote with the static in 56 inch and love it. Def. will be thinking about ordering these.

I have a set of 56" static limbs at the same weight . I shot both limbs through the chrono with only one difference. The longbow brace was at 6.75" and the static brace was at 7.75". The static was a whopping 1-2 fps faster.

Ryan Sanpei

Basically it just boils down to looks and preference. In terms of all around performance, feel and noise, the 56" static and longbow limbs are very similar.

My 56" static has been my "go to" bow, but I prefer the looks of a longbow.   :goldtooth:
Let me know if I can help with any questions.

Oh, wow! Those holes are perfect!!! The goats and pigs have no clue how much trouble they are in!!!!

I wish I could shoot a short bow, but for whatever reason, they just don't get along with me at all!!!!

Great to hear from you Bisch!!!  :shaka:  All things being relative, I believe a longer bow will outperform a shorter bow any day.

Have an awesome hunting season!!!

Excellent review as always Ryan! Thanks for putting in the time and sharing your knowledge.

I have a Wolverine FXT with with both working and static tip recurve limbs. And have shot a few other models of South's bows. Comparing Stalker's with the 50+ other makes and models that I have shot and owned, they are among the absolute best! In fact, my Wolverine is probably my favorite. My static tips are his original design, and they are smooth, accurate, and quiet. But they do lack a bit on speed compared to other designs. I had the opportunity to shoot his redesigned static limbs, and I can honestly say that they maintained all of their previous good shooting characteristics, but gained that lacking speed! And South makes the best grips out there! If his longbow limbs are as good as the rest, these will undoubtedly be in the top of their class.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

I really appreciate the kind words!
I have to agree with everything you have said. I heard his carbon/foam static limbs are smoke'n, but I haven't had the chance to shoot them.
