Like a kid waiting for xmas.. cant wait to climb the tree Saturday morning.. Ive got a few decent bucks on camera and a bear in a funnel area near the Nottoway River on the land I hunt... Im having joint issues in both hands that really hurt when I shoot my #68 Kentuckian Flatbow so I ordered a Galaxy Ember longbow thats #45.  It came in today just in case I cant shoot the Kentuckian all season. I just wanted to wish everyone luck and have a safe and successful hunting season. God Bless.... :jumper:

Best of luck, but Saturday is October 6, my 75th birthday.  Oh good night, am I really THAT old?  :help:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Good luck Floyd.  I'm building your string this evening.  I'll try to add a little luck to it.   :archer:

Nothing moving on the ole homestead.  Flock shot mosquitoes instead.  Bagged the limit...with one arrow.

I did everything by the book this morning. I showered, then put on high dollar scent proof clothing.  I covered myself in doe pee, then hiked far into the wilderness to get away from the crowds (I was at least 5 minutes from my back door).  I was on the inside corner of a field edge, high on a ridge, in a creek bottom.  I was 20 yards from an active scrape with a rope wick above it. I was high enough in the tree to be out of the line of sight, and above the scent stream, of my unsuspecting quarry.  I was also low enough to allow a perfect angle into the vitals of my target.

All this, only to miss two 8 pointers :banghead:

It was a great morning!!!!

we had a slight N NE wind this morning, the NE is no good for this location. At 7: 15 a beautiful 9 pt. is walking straight to me, quartering into the wind. Im standing up fingers on the string, he hits my scent stream and slams on the breaks. He never blew, but i know he smelled me. saw 2 does later in the morning. Its good to be back at it!

Got situated yesterday in the dark only to have a real light colored coyote take a dump at 15 yds. Flashed the light on it and it blazed out of there. A orange box turtle kept me company for the morning-was like watching a tank roll over the sticks and debris-sloooooow motion. Then at 9 am a black bear decided it was time to head back up hill but at 50 yards-first year with a tag and he kept his distance of course. Great morning but too warm for the evening.Still great to be out.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
