Shooting a Wagstaff longbow 64" 51Lbs at my long 31" draw. Shooting ICS Bowhunter 400s with 100gr brass inserts and 125gr points. Arrows are uncut at 32" long, pretty much what I need. Arrow weight with inserts, points, 5" shield fletching and standard included nocks is 515gr. Bow shoots very well and to point of aim. I have great arrow flight.

My conundrum. I like my 19.6% FOC.  125 grain traditional style broadheads are not common. I plan on using plain old Muzzy 125s. Haven't tried them yet. But, i do have a bunch of Zwickys and they are heavier. I guess i could adjust my brace height to get them shooting if it showed too much spine deflection with a heavier head. Maybe 25gr won't even matter?  I'll give it a try to tomorrow and see how it goes.

Am I missing anything?

25gr should not make much difference but with those shafts you could always change the insert weight to reach your goal.

If I remember correctly the ICS takes a standard 5/16 insert which comes in about every weight imaginable.

Thanks I'll see how they shoot tomorrow.  I just have everything set up just right and I'm pretty happy. I gues I could get a lighter insert and use heavier points and keep it all the same.

I don't see a problem with your current setup. If you can put them in the correct spot, I'd bet my bottom dollar they would perform just fine!!!! That being said, if it bugs you and you want more weight, just shorten the shaft 1/8" or 1/4" at a time, and add the point weight till you get it just right again.

Friend

You may consider a 50 gn insert and 175 gn point.

Not sure what the 125 grain traditional head you like that's in short supply. But their are other good choices in Trad screw in 2 blade 125gr. heads like Magnus Stinger that's a great head and affordable.

Steelhead

Steelforce,Ozcut and German Kinetics are a few other 125 grain 2 blade heads that come in 125 gr.

IMO, you won't notice the difference.  But, as others have said, can always use a lighter insert to arrive at the same overall arrow weight.

Shoots pretty good.

Here's a slo-mo video of my arrow.

All you need to do is get up a tree! Flight looks great. Love those Wagstaffs and Muzzy's have claimed a lot of lives.

Steelhead

Looks great. That arrow straightened out quick as a cat and stayed straight. No fishtailing or porpoising.

I agree with Possum Head. All you need to do is go huntin'. If you enjoy tinkering with your set up, then by all means go for it. But, if you don't get the exact set up you seek dialed in, don't feel under equipped using this current rig. It will work well. Good luck.

In my opinion- the muzzy will penitrate as good, if not better than any other 3 blade, providing you sharpen the tip like a snuffer! But it is still fun to play. Use what you have confidence in.  Greg
