Sorry to see that "Guru" has not chimed in. Don't hear much from Curt anymore but I know he has had some taxidermy experience. Believe he did a deer for Terry a few years back. Hats off to all who have the patience and artistic eye to do that kind of work.  :campfire:

Yeah....me too!
I did some work with birds (ducks, pheasants, pats) in my younger years.  My dad did some very cool work with whitetails and game birds as well...

I do my own work but not often as I am a full time taxidermist. I worked Hvac for 32 years and did taxidermy part time for about 19. I went full time a couple years ago. I absolutely love my job but you must to,work 6 days a week and long hours.

I'm sorry your taxidermist isn't communicating with you. That is a must.

I, as well as most taxidermists don't like the "hows my deer head coming along?" Calls. But it's part of the job and I always return calls.

Stuff happens though. Sometimes tanneries get behind and don't deliver capes when expected, or illness could put a guy behind. But really he should let you know what's going on. That's just good business.

Good luck. I hope you get it back soon. Jim

Huntschool that's a really nice looking deer. Looks like she really knows what she's doing.

Jim, I worried about calling and bothering him so I held off quite a while. I don't really want to bug him or tick him off. Like you said, I just wish the communication was better. If he would just let me know why it's taking so much longer than what he told me I would be fine with that. My deer wasn't big enough to warrant stealing it I don't think :biglaugh: Still just makes me wonder a little.

I've always admired the work of a good taxidermist. Years ago I got the bug and thought about trying it as a profession.  I met up with a quality local taxidermist and begged him to take me under his wing and show me the ropes in exchange for free labor. He set me down and asked if I liked to hunt? I said yes sir luv it! He then said see that buck over there I killed it in 1985, the year b4 I opened my studio. That was the last time I've been able to go hunting. I then thanked the man for his time and realized this ain't for me. :archer2:
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!
