Good rubber boots?

Who makes good rubber boots these days?

I've been using Lacrosse aeroheads for the past few years, very comfortable, but they popped a leak at the back of the ankles during the first season. Not encouraged to try another pair. I use to hear good things about Muck, but reading recent reviews it sounds like the QC department is slacking.

One option I'm looking at is Lacrosse alpha burly pros, which are rubber over neoprene. I would think they would be less susceptible to the kind of damage the aeroheads had.

Anyone have experience with these boots, or have another option I should check into?

[attachment=1,msg2813675]I like the lacrosse burly but I have high arches and have a hard time getting them on and off I've used muck boots with pretty good results, they are comfortable and go on and off fairly easy. But they do get torn up some in briars and such. I've had to silicone up where pieces of the neoprene was missing . Lately I e been using the lacrosse side buckle boot which is similiar to a burly but easy on and off

I've always been a fan of the Lacross burly boot.
I'm on my 3rd pair in about 25 years (not bad with 8+ years per pair) and every pair I've owned the tread wore off before they started to leak.  I'll stick with them for as long as they are made.

I'm not sure what the best kinds are but I totally agree with your observations on boots so far.  The lacrosse aeroheads are some of the most comfortable I've tried but everyone I know (including mine) started leaking at the back of the ankle.  I get muck boots through my job and I don't really care for them either.  I haven't had durability problems, but they burn my feet up and its almost impossible for me to be quite in them because they are so clunky feeling.  I'm still looking

Sounds like the burlys are worth a try.
I've never seen those Lacrosse side buckles before. My father has similar issues with rubber boots, and I've bought him a couple pairs over the years that haven't worked out. Those may be a solution for him.

Thanks for the input fellas.

I've worn the Lacrosse ankle fit boots for years and won't wear anything else.

I bought a pair of Bogs I don't know yet how good they will be for hunting but they have been real comfortable so far and no leaks , Ill find out this fall on durability.

Try a pair of Muck boots. They hold up well, and very comfortable.

I'm a bit surprised to see some negative comments about Muck boots. I really like the Muck boots I've had. I have Muck's for the farm and for hunting both and my whole family wears Muck's on the farm. Our has been great and held up well. Plus they fit my feet better than other rubber boots I've tried and because of that, they are comfortable.
