Finished up my new selfbow for Africa next year today. Its osage 57@26 with a Pine Hollow All Natural Bow Sealer finish. This bow shoots like a laminated glass bow. While in the early stages of checkering the handle it made me think of a zebra and I couldn't help but think about hunting a zebra with it next year in South Africa.

Good luck with it!!! Zebra has been one of my nemesis animals!

Next time you come to Carl's Ranch, you need to let me know. I only live about an hour from him. I'd love to be able to meet you, and to hold and maybe fling an arrow or two with one of your selfbows, if you have one that likes a 29" DL.

I took warthogs, kudu and gemsbok last time. Im hoping to get a zebra, blue wildebeest, waterbuck, blesbok or eland. Im not real picky just the proper shot angle.

fujimo

where are you going Mike?
who is the outfitter.

kudu are my favourite, and awesome eating, eland is pretty darn good eating too- but it takes a lot to beat a good ol impala!!!

I forgot about that, I got an Impala last time and it was good but my favorite was the Gemsbok.

Here's a pic of the Impala. Sinew backed osage bow, dropped him in his tracks!

There is not a better piece of red meat on this planet than eland tenderloin! If you shoot one, tell your PH to cook a tenderloin (each one is about 7.5#) on the pit, medium rare! You can thank me later!!!!

Kudu tenderloin is a very close 2nd!

Love the design and finish.....arrows aren't bad either   :biglaugh:
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Good luck....Africa on a bowhunt is terrific but 2019 might not  be like years past in South Africa with all the issues re: the government taking the farms from the white owners without compensation. Feeling threatened would detract from the hunting experience....being oblivious to the turmoil could be dangerous. What's your PH saying?

The PH told me that they look for things to settle down with the new President.
