Finally had a little time today. Talked the family in a road trip to do some wood shopping. It's never a bad day when you get to handle some wood.  :biglaugh:

Some macasser ebony and kingwood got to enjoy a ride home.

A little super glue on the kingwood to see how it will match

I've gotta make it up there one of these days. But I'll have to leave the wife at home so she doesn't know how much money I spend. Lol

Took my younger kids to the Pueblo zoo today and found this.  I've never seen Osage here except as a specimen tree.

I have took my wife enough that she will just set in the car. I don't think she gets that staring at wood for hours is exciting. A person should go every once in a while since the stock is always changing. Sometimes it is really spectacular and sometimes just average. I like being able to touch it before you buy and the price per board foot is very fair.

Put the rug rest and side plate back on the bow after an extensive refinish. While I was refinishing I had decided to add some lead to the lower part of the handle for extra weight. Drilled from the back of the bow and added lead balls. Then sanded off and replaced the outer most overlay to cover the holes.  Added 2oz to the bow. Doesn't sound like much, but the bow originally only weighed 17oz.

Also got some new arrows fletched up and flung some at the old target. That extra bit of weight really helped, especially on follow thru.

I need to get back to my daily shooting regiment. Season will be here before ya know it.

Finally got a little time to start this bow.  My younger daughters live with me during the summer and we've been busy actually shooting archery which hasn't allowed me much time for building bows.  Nonetheless, I got these glued up.

The lam billet is Purpleheart and Zebra with a mosaic accent of Purpleheart, Zebra, and maple.  This way all three woods used in the construction of the bow are represented in the accent strips.  The riser block is constructed of the same materials.

This will, (eventually) become my short pattern model #3 recurve. It is going to be for my beautiful wife, Brenda, who loves all things purple.  :goldtooth:

I got some coats of gloss on the current project, on the back. Going to get the belly tomorrow morning in hopes of being able to start the semi-gloss tomorrow night and Tuesday.  Really hoping this one makes it to Denton Hill this year.
