Compasss on bows

What compass besides the compass used on the Bear bows do you recommend. I am looking for something different. Thanks Dan

Do yourself a favor and keep your Silva compass in your pocket and not on the bow. My compass on my Titan III riser is placed too close to the limb bolt so it 15 degrees off but alsoI found it unwieldy to hold bow horizontal and turn it around trying to get a bearing. A hand held Silva is very handy to use.

Gotta be honest. I've had tons of compasses. Some were higher priced supposedly bullet proof. Many if not most developed air bubbles. It'd drive me crazy having that on my bow. They still seem to work that way but I agree put it in your pocket or on a string on your neck. If it goes bad it can always be replaced

Should add the type on bows is useless if you were trying to read a map accurately

There is one in my Silvertip riser and it looks good I guess, but it doesn't jibe with the Silva that I carry and navigate by, and as stated it would be really hard to hold level and use if I did trust it.

I've installed them on many bows. Got a perfect sized forstner bit for it. That said I consider it more of a novelty than a useful addition. After a couple thousand shots the vibration tends to mess with them.

I'm with everyone else, and say they do not belong on the bow, but in your gear.
I am trying to figure out how to remove one from a Titan III. It was inaccurate from day one, and has now stop turning at all.
Anyone ever try taking one out?

I have, by drilling a small hole right down through the plastic face, then prying it up.

Thanks. I was hoping to get it out in one piece. But broke is broke.
I wonder if acetone would release the adhesive, or turn it into a gooey mess?

Gnome, I understand that the hole goes through the riser so you can drill out the logo on the other side and use a screw to pull it out and then punch the compass out.

Be very careful punching out from the other side. What tends to happen is the wood splinters out around the compass. Then you do have a mess to fix. Been there.

Worked like a charm.
Pried up the logo with an exact-o blade, and taped out the compass with a dowel.

You get a gold star, and an extra juice-box for the day.

Hey Dan! What kind of bow are you getting? I Would suggest a compass that points to the big bucks (not that you need it lol) much like Jack Sparrows compass that always points to the black Pearl. most people will think its broken

I use them on my bow when deciding which way to direct my treestand. I dont like the morning or eve sun in my face.
