Whay do you guys use to protect your bow from getting glued to your form during glue up? I have been using saran wrap but it seems a bit thin and tears easily

Saran Wrap. Every bow blank has come right off for me and never leaves any glue on the press. I put a layer on the press, glue up and assemble the bow, pull the lams down into the fadeouts with tape, then another layer of Saran Wrap on top so the pressure strip and air hose doesn't touch the glue.

I use shrink wrap. Like what they use in a warehouse to wrap a pallet of boxes together so they don't fall off the pallet when being moved by forklift. It's pretty much Saran wrap, only a little heavier and stronger.  I buy it at Home Depot/Lowe's.

I have a bunch of that. Maybe I'll try it next time. It would be good for pulling the lams down together too.

3 to 4 coats of paste wax on the form surface and a couple of inches down each side dont hurt either.

The cheap stuff like Saran Wrap works well for me. Don't cling as well to everything you don't want it to.

May try the stuff Craig uses, always up for sumpin better!

I have a hard time keeping saran from bunching up, so I started using parchment paper or freezer paper depending on cooking temp.

I use unibond, freezer paper, waxed paper works great. Also I use lots of paste wax like crooked stick.

I think I use the same stuff....though it isn't actually shrink wrap.
This stuff is for wrapping boxes to keep on pallets too...but it is just thicker stronger "saran" wrap

Yep, that's exactly what I use.

Yep that's the stuff. Mine is much narrower, 4" wide I think, on a single handle that's used as a brake to stretch it tight or break it off. It's fast to use.

I used Saran Wrap but didn't like it I have washers on my form to hold the lams and had to tear threw it to get it to work so I pulled it off and put green frog tape on the form and made a Saran Wrap cradle and after all my lams where in placed wrapped it over the lams raised the washers and it worked good for me but I have a big roll of the shrink wrap I'm going to try next !

I had trouble controlling the Saran wrap so next came waxed paper and that is working pretty good.

I just have one piece of 4mil plastic sheeting that is about 7" wide running length wise on top of the form and then one piece about 4" wide on top of the bow being glued...  I get about 5-8 bows out of it before I have to change it...

I use two layers or Saran Wrap on the form and one layer on top of bow.

carefully wrap the entire form w/two layers of shrink wrap---lay up your bow and pressure strips --tape down firmly[cheap electric tape works great!]--wrap over the stack and strips --glue problems -no more !

I use butchers plastic it far heavier than saran wrap and doesn't tear. I've used it for almost 30 years its a lot easier to use than saran wrap or palet wrap . It is the plastic wrap they wrap the meat in before they wrap with paper . It comes in 18" rolls and is about 1/2 mile long I cut the strips down to 9 inches wide so I get double out of the roll . I go through about one roll a year I use it for packing in shipping also.

Someone has to say it, so I will -- practice safe bowbuilding, use a giant condom on your form.
