Looking to see pictures of your ASL's. Along with a description of the maker, model, woods, grip shape, etc. I have never shot a Hill style bow...but it is my next purchase.

I know we have the big long Hill bow thread...but I was hoping to see just the pics in one thread.

Thanks

You can never go wrong with a Howard Hill bow, but I'll be using my Jet for turkeys this Spring.

This one  is a 66" 52# @ 28"  JD Berry Morningstar.  A nice shooting bow with no noticable handshock,  at least to me.

I don't know what the wood is  but it is a reverse handle. It shoots very nicely and seems to have good performance.  It has red glass on the back and grey on the belly.  I didn't care for the red so I customized it.

Here are a couple pics of mine.  Both are made by Craig at HHA.  One is a Limited Edition Black Mamba and the other is a Halfbreed.  I have a JD Berry Northstar on order.  Really like the Hill style bows.  Ken

I think the best bang for your buck is gonna be a Two Tracks Echo.   Chuck makes a great hill style.

why "ASL" ???

howard called them "AFL" - American Flat Longbow - copied every bit the same as an english ELB just with a flat limb cross section instead of the carved engish "D".

Hill coined the term American semi-logbow.  The following passage is taken from Hunting the hard Way p. 91.

"There are three distinct types of bows, the straight-end longbow, the short flat bow, and the composite or self recurve bow.  Besides these main types there are many bastard designs that may have some feature of one or all of the other types.  Of all the varying designs and combinations of features there has been only one bow developed in modern times that makes a better bunting bow than the conventional English longbow, and that is the American semi-longbow.

This modern type is not quite so long as its English prototype, but is a little wider and considerably flatter.  At that, the American semi-long is not so flat as the American Indian short bow, and many times bowyers make the semi-long bow with recurved ends.  However, the recurved ends make it too sensitive for a good hunting weapon."
