Hey guys,

Need some help/advice from experienced trad veterans!

I've built a 43# @ my 28" draw length Osage self bow (recurved tips). I've begun tuning arrows and can get good tuned flight with 50-55 30" Cedar shafts with 125 grain heads. My total Arrow weight would be about 500. What's your thoughts on that setup for whitetail hunting OR is it needed to increase my head weight to something around 200grains? Thoughts and opinions? Just want the be ethical and have a quality setup not trying to maximize FOC and go crazy :) but props to the guys who are into highly detailed tuning!  :shaka:

That with a sharp broadhead will kill whitetails all day long.

You are good to go.

Your setup was the norm for soooooo many years...cause it worked.

It's only been recently that there has been such a push for FOC etc.

If what you have is working, why change now?  I would have gone for an inch and a quarter shorter bop and a lighter spine, 45-50, myself.   That really sucks how a simple cedar arrow and a 125 grain broadhead kills deer, it leaves nothing to work on other than shooting and hunting.
