Tell me, what is the best insert glue out there? I'd rather not use hot melts...

I have been using 2 part golf shaft epoxy. I get it from GolfSmith. BUT it is not reversible. So when I tune I cut from nock end. I still clean the shafts and inserts before gluing.

I use a slow cure 24 hour epoxy,there are many epoxies out there like your 5 minute and 30 minute epoxies.The longer cure is stronger then the fast cure epoxy.I always prep my shafts first,clean them well with alocohol and scratch the inside with a wire brush.I also wipe clean the inserts also before gluing.

I've been using JB Weld, both the quick and slow cure for a couple of years now and very rarely have an insert or outsert loosen up.  I also clean thoroughly with Acetone.

Tried them all. JB Weld cracked when shooting in extremely cold weather. Most epoxies set up hard. The best thing I have found is a product called InsertWeld by a company called 30-06. It is a black instant type glue with rubber added which absorbs shock. Can be shot immediately. Losing inserts is over. Confidence in the product 100%. I have no relationship with the company. I have found no better insert glue. Cannot be removed.

I know you said you'd rather not use hot melts, but if you give Big Jim's Quick Stick a try, you will probably never use anything else again. That stuff is the best insert glue I have ever used. Never lost a single insert in a target, and can easily get them out if I want to!

LocTite 2 part epoxy.
Not a hot melt fan....I end up wearing to much on my hands!

Remember that an epoxied insert is a bugger to remove when the threads go bad. But if you are set on something more perminent, go for the gold and use JB Weld.

Never heard of insert threads going bad.  I have them get gunked up once in a while with epoxy when I install inserts but now have a tap to chase the threads when that happens.

I use a 30 minute epoxy and I have never had an issue with it.

Strongest hold: two part golf shaft epoxy.  It is designed to hold aluminum onto carbon at high speeds during impact which is exactly what we see with our arrows.

Most versatile: hot melt from Big Jims.  It's plenty strong enough, easy to work with, and allows for you to change your stuff out as needed.  Take a look at his videos of him trying to break that bond on some carbon arrows and you will see it works pretty dang well. 

What do I use: both.  I foot my shafts with epoxy and and mount broadheads to adapters with epoxy.  The inserts are installed sometimes with epoxy and sometimes with hot melt, depending on the arrow.

Another satisfied Big Jim hot melt user here. Easy to heat a point and pull the insert. Otherwise, they stay put.
