RayMO

I am starting another BBO and my usual source 3rivers is out of stock on the Osage slats. Looking for recommendations? Maybe one of the Sponsors. Looking for a 5/8 by 68-72.

Thanks

Carson at echo archery told me he had some when I checked a month or so ago.  If you find some at a decent price let me know....

I have gotten Osage off Mike in the past.

I did not buy the pre cut slats you speak of.

I bought Osage boards instead, @ $10.00 a board foot.

2 inches thick, varied width, 36 inches long or a tad longer. Depending on what he had.

Much cheaper than buying the pre cut slats...

But I have the tools to cut it down into slats and run it through the drum sander to make it into perfect slats.

That may be an option for you.

Bowjunkie

How much do they want for a pair of Osage slats nowadays?

Roy from Pa

$50 for pair of 36" slats, $60 for a 68" to 72" slat..

I found this online.  If I lived anywhere close I would drive and check it out....

Maybe worth a call.

I've been looking on the woocraft website.

There's a store about 40 miles from me.

They have Argentine Osage boards for sale at a decent price.

I've heard Argentine Osage is supposed to be better than our Osage in the states.

Anyone know if that is true?

RayMO

Roy's prices match 3rivers. The billets are sure cheaper but I would gladly pay a little more not to have to splice.

Still have not heard back from Mike, so I don't know what his prices are I got the impression from his email that he would like the boards to dry more.

Roy when you told me about woodcraft I did some research on Argentine osage.   I found a few threads on PA where the guys discussed it.  The consensuses seemed to be that at best it was equal to our Osage, but most considered it a slight downgrade.  They did say it was easier to find clean pieces though; straighter growing, less knots, etc.
