Hi guys, I have finished my first bow from Kenny and I am very pleased, in fact more than that, his wood was stunning but I have a friend I would like to build a bow for and has asked if we could use a nice piece of apple for the riser which I have no idea. I would like to put the question out there to you as I have not seen a bow with it, any help would be great,hopefully these pics work of  kenny's, regards wayne

I've never done anything with apple but it is a hard and dense wood.  Not sure either where you would get a seasoned piece of it.  Apparently all the fruit woods are hard and dense.  I have some small pieces of plum, peach and pear that came from winter kill trees in the yard and they seem like good wood all around.

Thanks for the reply, the apple is or was on the grounds to my friends place it has since died and left to season, it would be for sentimental reasons and would be a nice touch if possible to use but I wanted advice so I don't just ruin it or its not achievable, regards wayne

Seems like it would be good...  But I would be wary because it says that it has a lot of movement with the seasons...  I think you want something very stable in a bow...
