Its funny how you go through this Archery stuff for years and eventually come out with some interesting hiccups that others never mention.  I'm not talking gap shooting here; just plain old aiming from the handle riser section of a bow whether its a recurve longbow or self bow..? Anyone know this stuff.?

By moving the side plate in or out to adjust for left or right arrow impact.

Yeah do you mean tuning the arrow by making the shelf deeper or wider? If so then the closer to center the stiffer the arrow you will need.  It takes a weaker arrow to bend around a wider sight window.
If that's not what you're asking then  :dunno:

Sorry guys I meant to say using the sight window as a distance reference.   I found some stuff online actually.  On a 20 yard shot you would sight your bow about 1 1/2 above the strike plate and aim closer to the strike plate for shots further away.  You can make marks on your sight window for yardage reference.  I think its all about tilting the bow.   :dunno:

The Olympic archers use sights, same idea/concept only I'm talking about just making marks on the bow for reference. It takes some practice but I think once you have it nailed the grouping should improve.

Oh gotcha.  I've heard about that but don't know much about it. Very interesting.  Let us know if you get it figured out.

I've put lines with a Sharpie marker on the belly side of the riser to establish a point of reference for aiming purposes.  That's how I solved that problem for me.

I heard in some competitions that you are not allowed to have reference points in the window...  That does not stop you from strategically using the wood grain in something that really sticks out like zebra wood or use the strike plate...

I heard that same thing, Shredd.  There is even a rule that limits how tall the strike plate can be.

Would any of that stuff work shooting canted?
