Been using $12.00 blades for years from a local saw place.

Thinking about trying a Timber Wolf..  Any other suggestions for under $40.00 a blade?

Bowjunkie

For what?

The blade details I choose depends on what I want to do with it.

That said, I don't like to spend too much on bandsaw blades. I have no complaints with the Powertech blades I got on the big auction site last time.

Roy from Pa

Cutting material for tri lams. We make 15 to 20 a year.

I'll check out powertech blades.

I typically use Timberwolf, but Woodslicer blades are good too.  About the same price.  Woodslicers seem to last a little longer in my experience.  Timberwolf is available locally, so I normally use them.

I might be placing an order at Saw Sales for something else, and if I do I'll have him make me up some blades too. I usually get Lenox Flexbacks, 3/4", 4 and 6 tpi.

kennym

These are pretty much like the Woodslicer, but cheaper. The shipping is a bit high, but the blades worked pretty well.

I believe the kerfmaster is the one...

Saw sales is where I've gotten all my blades so far, Jeff.

About $12.00, and they aren't bad.

60 mile drive down and back though.

Just thought I'd look for other suggestions.

Maybe if you and I hooked up and ordered in bulk, we could get a discount.

I think it's 10 blades or greater.

How would 3/4" work for me and tri lam material?

bigbob2

Damn cheapskate!!! Lol My blades cost me $50 a shot!

"How would 3/4" work for me and tri lam material?"

might not be wise to experiment in bulk Roy---

3/4" is about all Bowjunkie uses.

But we both have an assortment and the bulk price is just number of blades, doesn't have to be all the same size.

I use 1/2" now. Thinking the 3/4" could would be stronger and less prone to twisting.

Heck it's only for a gwass bow:)

BigBob, LOL..

skeaterbait

For what it's worth I tried a couple of 3/4" blades and have gone back to 1/2". I don't do resawing of any size and the 3/4" just hinders being able to cut curves.
Skeater who?

Roy from Pa

I have an assortment of blades from 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" to 3/4".

As does Bowjunkie...

All depends on the application and blade size needed..

Crooked Stic

Can you get a 3/4 blade tight enough on a 14 in. saw.

If all I was doing was cutting lams for trilams and glass bows from dimensional lumber, roughing out the bow profile, and cutting riser pieces for such bows, I probably wouldn't use the biggest, meanest blades my saw can handle, but I also spend considerable time making the above dimensional lumber from logs that barely fit in my saw, cutting staves from thick, green, split out knarly chunks of osage, and the wider, thicker blades are stronger and work better for that. My saw is a 14" Craftsman and I often wish it was bigger and stronger... but I get by. Those big blades also do a fine job of cutting lams for trilams and glass bows. The only downfall is they don't work too good in tight curves, seldom a problem for me.

I just ordered one of those quick release tension arms for my saw, so I'll be able to change blades in seconds. Not that I change blades that often, but when I do, I hate standing there cranking on that little knob.

Roy from Pa

Where did ya order the tension arm from?

LOL on the other:)

Bowjunkie

I ordered it through Saw Sales and Service, but you can get them other places. Your saw is the same as mine, right? If so, it's a Carter QR1000 quick release bandsaw blade tension toggle. Same Carter that makes the bearing blade guides. It's about $160.

I've been using Olson blades for the last few years.  They last me a long time and aren't too expensive.  I don't cut FG with them.
