I didnt put in for a permit last year because I was new to the area and didnt know how it worked. Definately going to try this next year though. Do you hunt private or public land? Can you elaborate on your setup?

I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of waterfowl hunting here in NC after reading so many horror stories from people on other waterfowling forums. Definately different than what Im used to, and I have a small fortune in diver decoys now, but its definately worth it.

That's awesome!  I really want to shoot a goose out of the air (I've got them and ducks off the water with a compound, but that's not the same!)

I hunt private land in wheat fields. We use 6 huge canada shells painted up like Swans and a couple dozen snow goose decoys. That is usually all we need to get some shooting. If you had good diver hunting in NC, consider yourself lucky if you got them on public water. I sold all my stuff several years ago. I hate fighting the crowds. The only thing I didn't sell were my 12 dozen Herters decoys. They are too nice to sell.
