I hear so much stuff about speed it makes ones head spin.
A lot of us including me shoot wood arrows, they will bend more compared to carbon, glass or otherwise.  So if one uses B-50 string is a little stretch that big of a deal.  I use B-50.  Building wood bows has more implications in regards to speed like reflex, wood material etc.etc....... that affect speed more so than using B-50.

Why does a 35# bow shoot the same as a 45# bow 'point on' at 20 yards.  Using the same string and the same arrows spined at 45#.

And whats a couple FPS loss anyway.

Oh, agree for sure.  It's educational though to chrono your builds to compare the results of tweaks and design changes.

When it's hunt time, for the last 7 years I've carried an ASL that shoots a 650 grain arrow at 138fps.  Don't ask how that works cause I haven't loosed an arrow at a big game animal in 8 years.  

Cause the 35 pounder was designed right and the 45 pounder was not.

I have bows that shoot any where from 150-190s fps I would hunt with any of them but with wood bows when I switched from B50 to FF I could lower the brace height with out hitting my wrist I agree with Monterey arrow speed is great for keeping track of design efficiency, but can be disappointing when a design doesn't live up to what you thought.

for whitetail and similar game speed isn't too important to a degree. where it comes in handy for me is elk hunting. if I can setup a lower poundage bow to perform the same as a heavier bow then that's a bonus and why I care about speed in that situation

It is what it is.  FF will improve your speed some vs B-50.  I like the extra speed and the feel of FF that's why I use it.  
If you like the way B-50 feels, and don't care about a few fps then keep using it.  
The last bow I made came in at 38 lbs after final sanding and shoots 158 fps w/ about a 500 grain arrow.  It blows by my 45 lb, 47 lb, and 51 lb bows with the same arrow, and it draws smoother.  So it basically obsoletes those 3 bows.  It's a lot easier to shoot all day and it shoots flatter.  
Design and construction makes the biggest difference.

Those are the offenders.  Nothing special, just was trying to prove the point that good design, construction, and tiller make the biggest difference in speed.

I would say you can have them, but I'm pretty sure you would break them with your crazy draw length..

Nice bows Bmorv , I have a friend that hunts with short draw native style bows he feels the same way if the bow shoots nice and will hit 150 fps 10 gpp he hunts with it  ,  90 % to me is how the bow shoots  !  I have a 62 in. Mohegan style Hickory/ sinew  that is really a docile bow it only does 155 fps @45 lb with b50 but it shoots so nice with b50 & quit I never bothered to change to FF.
