I thought about cleaning the shop today......
Then I remembered it's the thought that counts so I'm good!

Visited central Indiana today. Seems like a nice place. Closer to osage. Bigger deer. Friendly people. And was warmer than when I left here yesterday.

Going to buy lumber for a table maybe I can find a piece of bow wood while I'm there. Wish me luck.

John, I was in a similar situation.  I went to Menards to look at washers and decided "why not check out the lumber."  To my delight, I not only found they just started carrying random lengths of hard maple, but I discovered this beauty:

This is just a small bit of the board, but almost all of the 1" x 6" x 12' is like this (with a small bit of heartwood inclusion at one end and a little bit of swirling in the middle, but it's also on the side with the heartwood).  I'm guessing I should be able to rip a good number of backing strips or core lams from this.

And I was able to find a steal of a deal on a nice open box washer!

TODAY!!!!! Today I endured "One of those days".... One of those days that no matter what I did or how much effort, attention or care I put in to it, it all just turned to crap.

But, no matter what I did wrong, no matter what I misfigured, no matter what I miscalculated, my wife loves me, my kids put up with me, my grandkids don't even notice and Jesus still loves me.

I'll take it.
Skeater who?

John Malone

Skeater at least you got the right attitude sure makes life a lot easier.

I'm probably jumping the gun here but I've done my design for the Bow Swap.  I'm building an old school hill with straight limb back set.  Back set will range from about 1.65 to 1.85 depending on the length of the bow.

I'll probably have to build two of these.  The first with a SWAG on the stack and the second with a calculated stack to meet my recipients draw weight.

This will be for the form template.  Doesn't get much simpler than this.    :)

I took the hickory backed bow out of the cold hot box today and cleaned her up. Looks like she's gonna be a sweet bow.

Looks like I'm going to watch it snow, got 3 inches in two hours already. That means I can tiller my bow all day!
