Thought this might help some of you who dont have all the right tools for making bows.

Here's a video of my lam grinding jig for my spindle sander.

To be clear, I'm doing it this way because I can't spend  $700 on a thickness sander.

I've made 3 bows with it so far.  Enjoy!

Pretty cool... Nice tool...  I would think if you go from a turnbuckle to a single bolt it would increase on your precision...

Pago

You sure make it look easy.
The best made plan won't get it made the way you planned.

You're probably right. I can adjust to 0.001 increments now though.  Good 'nuff for me.

By the way, folks...

The video I posted is "unlisted" on youtube.  You can only get to it if you have the link.  I've posted this for TradGangers only.

Well if you are getting .001", You are good to go...

On my rig a half a turn will get you .005"...  Just curious... How much of a turn will get you .001"??

Theolithic71

I don't need to turn it much for .001.  Less than a quarter for sure.

The fence is traveling in an arc and the dial indicator is not directly in line with the drum.  When I'm getting close, I measure after every pass.  When I have less than .005 to go, I just do additional passes without moving my fence.

It's a nice rig, Ted...  Where did you get the aluminum and what is it mainly used for??

Theolithic71

You can find it on the internet.  Search "T-slotted extrusion"

It's basically erector set for adults.  You make whatever you want with it.

Sweet...  Learn something new every day...  I am sure I will have a use for this stuff somewhere down the road...   Thanks...

Looks pretty good I like it!

Mad Max

I like you set up.
You did not have to spend a lot of money.
Nice
Try 2 C clamp on the left bar and see if your parallel Lams measure better.
