Would a zebra riser with walnut veneers (thanks to Kenny) look ok?

Also, I had some maple lams ready to go before Kenny told me I lucked out and won some walnut veneers - would the light colored maple lams look ok with the other darker woods or should I get a darker colored wood for lams?

I'd go with the maple cores for a nice contrast.
