I decided to try ash for the core on this bow. Mainly because I live in an area that is very thin on the ground for diffuse porous woods and I had to see if it would work!
5 piece core. Water buffalo sinew and horn. Natural pigments for the paints. Copal varnish.
I've been drawing it to 29 inches and looking at the string angle in the full draw picture it seems like that is about it for drawlength. It is only 45# or so at 29". Performance seems pretty good. I will chrono it soon.
Thanks for looking.

Nice
I want to see more of this one and the spec.
I would rather fail at something above my means, than to succeed at something  beneath my means

Another beautiful bow Mike.  I've liked Ash as a selfbow wood. Not surprised it make a good composite core.  I love the black/green/gold decorative scheme too.

I see your backyard hunting kit in the background:  Slingshot for rats, deadly stoats, and those vicious vegetable stealing were-rabbits!

Wow!  How long is it and how do you get it braced?!  Beautiful work!
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Thanks guys  :)
It is 52 inches ntn. I brace it either with my bracing board/peg board or by the step through method if I don't have the board to hand.
Yes Ken...you've got to watch out for the killer rabbits....!

That's awesome Mike! I've always wanted to build a horsebow using buffalo horn and sinew, and I recently found some on Amazon of all places.

Don't forget the Holy Hand Grenade for those rabbits...

Very nice and a nice change from the norm here.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

Beautiful bow Mike. I love the braced and full draw pics. The decorations are pretty nice also. Everything done the way it should be done. Well done.

Looks great, normally I prefer bows where you can see the wood, but the way you did the sinew and varnish looks great. It has an interesting unstrung profile, did you make the form yourself or use an existing object?

Cool bow, Mike!

Ash here is good!

Curious, what is the string length on a 52" with all the reflex?

Love slingshots, too! Again, nice work!

Beautiful bow Mike.  Especially like the art work.  Well done Mike!
