For those of you who are also on PA forgive the redundancy.
Used up my last "easy"       :confused:     stave. This one was pretty strait, a bit of character in the upper limb and some natural deflex about mid upper limb. I left everything pretty much as is, I did toast the belly lightly, and a bit heavier in one spot near a knot (thinking it would make that area just a bit stiffer) because I am tired of little compression fractures showing up next to knots in my guava bows  >    :(    .

This one is a bit different design than I usually go after. It has a fairly crowned back, so I attempted to make the belly match the crown. It seemed like science.  

It is longer than I usually make em. This one is 69in nock to nock, It pulls 54lbs at 28inches. This is the fastest shooting selfbow I have made. Grip is made from a thrift-store purse and a boot lace.

Silencers are raw wool from a big island sheep hunted last year.  

It took a bit of set on the lower limb, maybe an inch or so. The upper limb looks to have more set, but it started with some deflex to begin with, so its hard to tell how much the upper limb moved.

I left the cambium on the back and sanded it down to get a kind of camo effect.

Looks good, but if it shoots well, looks are less important.

One of my oak board bows has the 'thrift store purse and boot lace handle', I'm a big fan of re-purposing things.

I don't brush my beard either.

The string is a raggedy B 50 from long ago, one of my first attempts at string making. It fits well on this bow though.

I took it out target shooting back on an old powerline trail where I have some bag targets hung. This mongoose was asking for it. Looks like my next string will have mongoose fur silencers.
 

blood on it on the first trip out. thats a good sign. I still need to get some arrows dialed in for it though. Everything I got is flying knock right.

Roy, I like to wear one as chin protection as well.   Anyone got ideas on spine for wood arrows for this bow? never dealt with woodies before.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Yeah they were introduced to take care of rats. They are a much bigger problem than rats now...

I would say about 45 to 50 # spine. I have found when I buy a dozen wood shafts, most spine out on the higher end. With the bow not being center shot, a little lighter spine than the bows weight is what works for me. Leave the arrows full length and shoot some. If they are acting weak, cut 1/4" off the point end of one arrow, taper it and glue the point on again and shoot again. Continue doing that to that one arrow till it flies well. Then cut the other shafts to the same length as your test arrow.

Thanks roy!  I got a half dozen 50-55 spruce shafts cut to 30 inches on the recommendation of Pearl Drums on PA website. It took 145 ribtecks to get them to fly perfect, but boy do they fly.  I appreciate the advice!
