Hi all,
Does any body have any tips or tricks they'd like to share on how to get a nice tight fit on the form?

Like on some things that I'll do I'll shade with a pencil and give the to part a rub together. Places where the pencil transfers is where you sand.

Go down to the bottom of the page where the rise template is.
That is a piece of 3/4" plywood.
The back glass and lam is clamped down behind the template also.
see the blue tape in spots to keep everything pushed down, some places have two or three pieces in on spot to make it thicker to keep the lams down.
Use a pattern sander (Robo sander) after making the template.

Fit and sand .fit and sand. Lol I also made a template so I am pretty damm close before I start sanding

The last template I made, I sanded and fit and sanded until very close.  I then put a strip of packing tape down on the form where the riser would go.  I then took my template and put a thick layer of smooth on epoxy on the template and clamped it to the form.  Once the epoxy had dried I had a template that is a mirror image of the form.

As already said, use a template and fit and sand. Repeat step two until satisfied.

There is another method you can try...

We had some nice wood that just was not the right dimension we needed for a full riser block.  So.. it was sliced into layers approximately 1/8" thick, and glued together on the form, to create a riser.  Of course, since it was "Form Fit", there was no light gaps once we did the glue up with laminations.

Started with these:



Glued back together in the form like this:



Comes out looking something like this:



Then shape the belly side.



Then you can glue it into a riser like this one.
