Hey all,

I'm  looking to build a horse bow (I know that horse bow isn't the right term) using modern materials.  Any one know of a good build-a-long or something about how to build one so I don't have to recreate the entire process.  I've got some good info on how to build a horn composite bow but not the modern version.

Thanks

Just find a shape that you like and copy the unstrung profile.
Glass bows don't lend themselves to exact copies of true composites bow (in general) shapes but with a bit of tweaking you can get them looking the similar braced.

Here's some illustrations of the Scythian style wood-glass composite I built a couple years ago.

There's a picture of the open-topped rubberband-jig I used to shape the bow.  I've used the same jog to make bows with less radical recurves -- much easier.

If you use the Tradgang Search and search on "horse bow" "Scythian" "Magyar"  "Hungarian" etc. you'll find a number of posts about building those types.

Thanks for the link.  I really like those Scythian bows.  They are one I would like to do someday.  I think I have an idea of what to do now.
