I have sprayed many ornamental fence and gates over the years, and when you get orange peel, you do not have enough thinner in the paint. The building was not insulated and sometimes the doors were open.

Having said that.
My bow room is insulated and tight, dehumidifier keeps it at 35/40%. I got a bumpy finish with 4 or 5 different clear coatings, some out of a bomb can.

Today I sanded the bumps down on a bow I coated last week and hung it in a metal building with what ever humidity was outside with a nice finish.
I think that the thinner dry's so fast in my bow room that the coating does not have time to lay down.

I hope I can help some of you get better finishes on yours.

Spraying finish is such a crapshoot (pun intended). Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't for me. Man, gloss is a total pain!

Yes I've learnt a lot about spraying by using a local specialist spraying company. Their spray booth is about £25,000.....without the right tools for the job spraying certainly can be a crap shoot!
I tried to set up one at the end of my workshop initially.....now that was a waste of time!
I'd rather pay somebody to do the job right in the first place than have to mess about trying to spray in sub ideal conditions because it normally results in a sub ideal finish
