Don, I have no clue.  It from some second growth off of an old stump.  As soon as I cut into it I could tell something was different.  It sounded like I was trying to cut a steel pipe with a chainsaw.
I got a stave one time and when I cut it or sanded it the color did not change, I was not yellow at all, It just looked like a seasoned stave color all the way through.
Made a nice bow too.
